I was born in California and grew up in Inglewood, a city located in the southwestern Los Angeles County. In 2011, I graduated from Inglewood High School. Throughout my high school career, I became a member of College Summit and was given the opportunity to become a peer leader. As a peer leader, I motivated and guided my peers through the college application process. This sparked my interest in becoming an educator. To pursue my dream of becoming a teacher, I decided to attend California State University Northridge. My decision to attend was based on the variety of options and stellar reputation of educational paths for undergraduates. I graduated from California State University Northridge in Fall 2016 from the College of Humanities with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and a concentration in Literacy. I also obtained a minor in Teaching English as a Second Language and have received a multiple subject teaching credential.
California State University Northridge allowed me to enhance my performance with a variety of hands- on teaching experiences. For my Literacy concentration, I became a member of the Literacy Scholars for the Future of Los Angeles, where I developed, implemented, and directed age- appropriate literacy instruction for a Kindergarten classroom. I also gained experience working, engaging, and assisting families while promoting lifelong literacy learning in a fourth grade afterschool program. To receive my multiple subjects teaching credential I also became a member of the Integrated Teacher Education Program where I completed two semesters of student teaching. During my placements I was responsible for classroom management, planning and implementing lessons in all curriculum areas, analyzing and interpreting assessments, and attending parent- teacher conferences. I am currently seeking a full- time elementary teaching position in the Los Angeles area.
